Health as a mission, transparency as a concrete commitment

Every day, Chemi S.p.A. works with the goal of improving people’s health and longevity by developing solutions for high-impact diseases.
This mission is closely tied to a concrete ethical commitment. That’s why we have transformed data and processes into a transparent narrative: our first Sustainability Report, which gathers 2024 data according to the ESRS standard, validated and archived to remain clear, comparable, and verifiable over time.

The Reason Behind Our First Sustainability Statement

European pharmaceutical manufacturing faces a crucial challenge: ensuring access to essential care while minimizing environmental and social impacts.

Between 1995 and 2019, the global climate footprint of the pharmaceutical sector increased by 77%.

We chose to prepare our ESG Statement to ensure transparency in our journey, measure the direct and indirect impacts of our production activities, and develop effective reduction strategies.
It’s a commitment to the environment and local communities, and also an act of responsibility to make European pharmaceutical production safer and more sustainable.

Inside the Sustainability Statement

You will find a clear and transparent picture of our environmental, social, and governance performance:
from CO₂ emissions and energy consumption to the management of water resources and waste, and policies on labor, safety, and corporate culture.
The document outlines strategies, risks, and opportunities according to European ESRS standards, providing measurable data and concrete commitments to create lasting shared value.

Our commitment to the future

Understanding our impact is the first step toward improvement.
That’s why we have chosen to measure, transparently and scientifically, our greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) related to 2024 activities — covering direct emissions (Scope 1) and indirect emissions from energy use (Scope 2).

  • Scope 1 emissions include direct emissions generated by production processes and fuel use for heating, energy generation, and company vehicles.
  • Scope 2 emissions cover indirect emissions linked to purchased electricity, heat, and steam.
  • Scope 3 emissions represent all other indirect emissions along the value chain — suppliers, transportation, business travel, and product life cycles.

To gain a deeper understanding of our contribution to climate change, we have embarked on a transparent GHG measurement journey.
After calculating Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, in 2025 we are committed to extending our analysis to Scope 3 emissions — those reflecting the broader impact of our operations across the entire value chain: suppliers, logistics, travel, product use, and end-of-life.

A decisive step toward fully understanding our climate footprint.
The results will be published on this page in 2026.
